This year marks the 95th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Thousands of members of the local Armenian-American community are descendants of those who lost their lives. I was honored to help commemorate the anniversary of the genocide by speaking at the Armenian Cultural Center in Glenview before a packed house. I vowed to pressure the President and Congress to have our country join more than 20-other nations to officially recognize the genocide. This recognition is an important step in preventing future atrocities, because all governments must know the world will not turn a blind eye to the abuse of human rights.
