In honor of Veteran’s Day, Robert Dold, Republican Candidate for Illinois’ 10th Congressional District, will attend a series of events throughout the district to show his respect for America’s military veterans.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, Bob will join the Glenview Marines in recognizing the 234th anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps. The memorial event, which will be held in the Police Department’s Community Room, 2500 East Lake Street, kicks off the first day of a fundraiser aimed at raising more than $1 million to help wounded marines at Naval Station Great Lakes and across the country.
A visit to a memorial for Glenview natives Cpls. Brian Kennedy and Christopher Zimny, who died in the line of fire in 2003 and 2005, will be his next stop. The Glenview Freedom Memorial Committee created a memorial to honor the U.S. Military and celebrate the freedom they create for Americans. Dold will honor these and other American heroes by laying flowers at the memorial.
On Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m., Bob will honor veterans by helping members of the American Legion in Lake Forest (at the Laurel Avenue City garage) post 500 U.S. flags throughout the downtown area.
Following the flag-posting event, Bob will travel to Lake Bluff for a memorial service at the Gazebo on the Village Green at 9 a.m. where he will honor veterans alongside American Legion Post #510.
Next, Bob will head to Arlington Heights to join the Merle Guild Post #208 (121 N. Douglas Ave.) in honoring local veterans of the Military in their community. Following the ceremony, he will serve as a volunteer at a luncheon to remember veterans of Arlington Heights.
