Robert Dold, 10th District Republican Congressional candidate, took a stand against cap and trade legislation Wednesday by signing the No Climate Tax Pledge. The Illinois chapter of Americans for Prosperity, an economic freedom advocacy group, commended Dold for his strong opposition to the government’s plan to tax small businesses in order to fund big government spending. The American Clean Energy and Security Act, which is currently in the Senate, would cost $846 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
“Climate change legislation is a decoy for Pelosi and her Congressional followers to reach into the pockets of families and small business owners,” Dold said. He continued, “A tax increase on small businesses is absurd—especially during an economic recession when we need to promote job growth.”
As a small business owner, Dold understands the importance of small business to our economy. As Congressman, Dold’s primary focus will be putting the talented people of the 10th District business back to work by focusing on job creation and supporting small businesses. He is firmly opposed to all cap and trade legislation.
