U.S. Senator Richard Lugar announced his endorsement of Republican Robert Dold on Tuesday. Lugar, a ranking member of the Committee on Foreign Relations and an international affairs specialist, endorsed Dold for his fiscal discipline and proven leadership skills.
Sen. Lugar said, "I enthusiastically endorse Robert Dold to represent the 10th District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives. His leadership skills will deliver a strong message of fiscal discipline and common sense, and his background in small business is very timely. Dold is a remarkable choice. I look forward to working with him and having a friend in the House who shares my values and the values I believe will be a hallmark for the turn of the country at this point."
Dold's combination of solid grass roots support and growing confidence among National Party leaders have uniquely established him as the best positioned candidate to win in the general election. "Our party is looking for fresh faces and energetic leaders to take back Congress,” Dold said.
