10th District Republican Congressional candidate Robert Dold said Monday that the nation must do whatever it takes to protect its citizens, and that Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano’s reaction to the failed terrorist attack on Christmas Day demonstrates a lack of seriousness with respect to security and a failure of homeland security leaders to fulfill their sworn oath to defend and protect American citizens.
Dold believes that issues of security should not be politicized, but should be addressed without haste on a bipartisan basis. “If the Secretary of Homeland Security is incapable of ensuring the protection of the American people, then it is the president’s responsibility to put partisan politics aside and replace him or her with someone more qualified,” Dold said. He continued, “We simply cannot accept anything but the most competent leaders when homeland security is at stake.”
As Congressman of the 10th District, Dold will be committed to ensuring the safety and prosperity of the citizens of the U.S. Dold supports strong national security, a well-funded military and a set of clearly defined goals when combating terrorism.
