Winnetka, IL - On Friday, March 18th, Bob joined the New Trier Republican Organization for their annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner. Over a hundred 10th District Republicans gathered with Bob, State Senator Dan Duffy, Cook County Commissioner Dan Patlak, Cook County Republican Party Chairman Lee Roupas, and an assortment of local candidates for a celebratory Irish meal at the Winnetka Community House. Long term 10th District residents, Roger and Tina Keats were also in attendance, mere days before their move to Texas. An active part of the 10th District and Illinois Republican politics, they will be missed. Bob and the rest of the audience wished them long, happy, and warm retirement.
After the delicious meal, Bob gave an update on his time in Congress, made some projections for future legislation, and answered a medley of questions about the federal budget crisis, health care reform, Illinois politics, and foreign affairs.
The evening was a great success, made possible by New Trier Republican Organization Chairman Tolbert Chisum and his dedicated members.
"I was honored to have so many people at the dinner again this year," Bob said. "The 10th District is fortunate to have NTRO. It's a vibrant organization and a critical source of experienced grassroots volunteers who work tirelessly for area Republicans."
As a life-long resident of New Trier Township, Bob has been a regular attendee at the Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner. This year's dinner was particularly special for Bob, providing a warm welcome back to his 10th District base and a time to reunite with old friends.
