A society cannot function if its residents do not feel safe. Our police, firefighters and National Guardsmen are on the front lines in protecting our communities. The public safety officers in the 10th Congressional District are among the best in the country, and we must provide them the resources they require to do the job.
In addition, a large metropolitan region is always at risk of terrorist activity, and we must ensure that Homeland Security provides local public safety agents the training and leadership necessary to protect against and minimize the potential for terrorist activity. We must protect individual’s civil rights, but not handcuff those whom we charge with protecting us.
