Robert Dold Discusses the Importance of Wetlands Conservation

Robert met last week with key representatives from the Wetlands Initiative, a regional organization focused on wetlands restoration.  He sat down with John Sentell, the organization's Chief Operating Officer/Executive Director to learn more about the importance of wetlands for our public safety, economy, water quality and recreation.  Some important benefits of wetlands include: flood control, improved water quality, economic benefits and enhanced recreation.   One key to their success is that the Wetlands Initiative seeks creative market-based solutions for wetlands preservation.  Robert said after the meeting, "I understand how a clean water system improves our quality of life.  I commend the Wetlands Initiative for their leadership on creating and preserving wetlands in Illinois and along the Mississippi River watershed.  I look forward to working with this organization to leave our children an economy and water system better than what we have today."
