As I see my mother, wife and three sisters juggle the demands of their families, careers and community involvement, I recognize the many unique challenges facing women.
Women make contributions in every industry and continue to be a driving source of entrepreneurship for our economy, owning 45% of small businesses in America. Women are most often the primary caregiver and decision-maker about their children's education, health care and activities, as well about the health care decisions of aging parents and relatives. Women continue to be leaders in their communities - volunteering at schools, churches and other organization dedicated to the common good.
I support a broad range of reproductive options for women, including the right to safe and legal abortion. I believe that individuals, not governments, are best equipped to make private medical decisions. I also recognize that being pro-choice is just one in an array of issues important to women.
I support expanding child care tax credits, to provide families with more assistance with these expenses. I am committed to listening to and working with women from all walks of life to improve the quality of life for families of the 10th District and to address our most important challenges: how to rebuild our economy to provide stable jobs for families, improve our education system, ensure clean water and air quality and keep our communities and kids safe.
